《Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics》創(chuàng)刊于1981年，由中國科學(xué)院國家天文臺主辦。
《Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics》主要刊登天文學(xué)和天體物理學(xué)領(lǐng)域的原創(chuàng)性研究論文。主要欄目和報道范圍：“研究快報”用來報道天文觀測的新結(jié)果及新理論；“特約綜述”聘請國際知名天文學(xué)家就某些熱點(diǎn)問題進(jìn)行專題評述。“研究論文”具有原創(chuàng)性。2009年更名為《天文和天體物理學(xué)研究》（英文版），由雙月刊變?yōu)樵驴?
